While the game's core principles remain consistent, some regional variations might exist, but the fundamental objective is always the same: to predict which of the two piles, Andar or Bahar, the next card matching the "Joker" or "Trump" card will appear in. Andar Bahar is a single-deck card game, popular among casual players as well as those who enjoy playing online. The name “Andar” means “inside” and “Bahar” means “outside,” referring to the two betting sides of the table. The aim of the game is simple: predict whether the matching card will appear first on the Andar side or the Bahar side.

Game Setup

Before the game begins, players place their bets. The minimum bet depends on the platform or house rules.

● The game is played with a standard 52-card deck, no jokers(commonly used in other games like Poker or Blackjack)+.

● Usually 2–10 people can play together, while online formats let you play solo against the dealer.

● The dealer (or automated system online) handles the cards and manages the flow of the game.

● The table has two betting sides, Andar and Bahar, plus a central spot for the reference card.

How to Play Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar is quick to play and runs in a simple cycle. Here’s how a round usually works:

Dealing the Middle Card

The dealer draws one card from the shuffled deck and places it face up in the center. This becomes the reference card, and the goal is to find another card of the same rank. Suits don’t matter. For example, if the middle card is the 5♦, any other 5 in the deck counts as a match.

Placing Bets

Before the dealer continues, players place their wagers on either Andar (Inside) or Bahar (Outside). You normally get about 15 seconds to decide. Most payouts are 1:1, so a ₹100 bet gives back ₹100 if you’re right.

Dealing Cards

The dealer then gives one card to Andar, the next to Bahar, and keeps alternating. This goes on until a card of the same rank as the middle card is dealt.

Determining the Winner

Whichever side gets the matching card first wins. Players who bet on that side are paid according to the odds, while the rest of the bets are collected by the house or system.

Betting Options and Payouts

The standard Andar/Bahar bet usually pays 1:1, but some versions of the game include extra betting choices:

Side Bets: You can also bet on the suit or color of the cut card. For example, predicting that the cut card will be red may pay 1:1.

Odds Variations: At certain tables, payouts change depending on how many cards are dealt before the match appears. A win after 20 or more cards may come with higher odds, though this rule is uncommon.

Tie Bets: In some versions, if the matching card has the same suit as the cut card, players can place a tie bet for bigger payouts. This option isn’t available everywhere.
